Hat Fitz & Cara Robinson live at The Greyhound Bar, Kilkee, Co.Clare 02/08/2011 REVIEW
The Greyhound bar is an excellent watering hole and in the last while has been building it self up to be a great venue for touring bands. The Outback area makes for a great band area, complete with stage, novelty life size cactus and superb sound system.
The act booked for tonight was Hat Fitz and Cara Robinson. Was not sure what to expect and what we got was just great!!
Seasick Steve esque swashbuckling fun was the order of the night. Hot Fitz acting as the guitar player and Cara Robinson stationed behind the drum kit complete with wash board and other such accouterments. They looked like a wild west version of The White Stripes. An australian based band while Cara is actually a Nothern Irish Bangor born gal, They are on a little Irish tour and picked Kilkee for one of the nights.
A superb set, really entertaining and good fun as they played to a packed pub for a Tuesday night. I picked up their excellent CD on the night "Beauty'N The Beast". The 16 track album has a mix of orginals and covers. Starting off with the superb "Black Cat Bone" by Jessie May Hemphil. These guys are worth checking out live and if not their album is worth a purchase. Hopefully see these guys again soon.

Our song about Kilkee “The diamond Rocks” has just been chosen for RTE’s main playlist for this week, 9th Jan 2012;
http://www.rte.ie/radio1/playlist/
If you’d like the rest of the country to know about the beauty of Kilkee, please phone RTE and request it! In honour of Che, it’s a Latin/bossa nova rhythm
Incidentally, due to budgetary constraints, the video – soon to appear on youtube – was filmed in Muir Bay, California, as distinct from Moore Bay! Hope you like it, nevertheless
