My Music Bible

There are some things in life precious to me and i thought id share one of them , my music Bible,

I have owned this book for two and a bit years and it never ceases to amaze me.

1001 Albums you must hear before you die is a chronology database of brilliant albums that have impacted the world of music.

Starting with Classics such as Frank Sinatra all the way through to The White Stripes, spanning years from 1955 to 2005. Many albums on this list i personally would not include but then again they have affected music history. Each album entry is accompanied by pictures, quotes, and additional information about the album.

This masterpiece will enthral any reader for hours as you flick through the many years of music history. I have found connections with many artists through this book and have listened to many great albums i would not have even dreamt of buying.

If you haven't already sampled this book it is a must have for any music fan , get up , go out and buy!
If you cant be bothered the full list of albums are featured here http://www.rocklistmusic.co.uk/steveparker/1001albums.htm

Radiohead plotted another sneaky event yesterday in London and preformed a gig in a tiny place Rough Trade shop ,93 Feet East, Brick Lane to be exact for a select few of fans who queued up all day. Radiohead have all the songs on youtube and you can view them here, looks like a superb intimate show and they are shaping up to be one of the festival and gig highlights for this summer,

Made to Love Magic

Once in awhile albums come along that give you a serious look into the artists vision for their music this is once such album. Nick Drake Made to love magic from the offset brings you into this haunting world of a singer songwriter compiling songs for albums yet to come. This album is a compilation of rare and unheard tracks and made its way to to production thanks to his sister and fellow friends.

Many of the tracks are unreleased amateur recordings from his college days and some are outtakes to his three studio albums, there are also some of Drakes final recorded songs which gives this album a haunting and magically feel to it. One of those records that will get rid of any stress of the day.

This album is worth seeking out , if you are unfamiliar to Mr. Drake don't start here peruse his only three studio albums the first being Five Leaves Left (One of my all time favourites) and then Bryter Layter and finally Pink Moon. Nick is one of these classic tragic music type guys, died early and left some great stuff behind him, go check his stuff.

The Smiths Live

Johnny Marr is off doing his Modest Mouse duties, while Morrisey is churning out solo album after solo album, its hard to think what albums we could be treated to if these two got together today. All we can do is look back at the classic times they gave us.

I have stumbled across this recording of the smiths with john peel , it contains tracks from 1983 - 1986, which they recorded with the late great Mr.Peel.

It is a superb quality bootleg and worth a listen for any smiths fan, here is the link to download the whole album ->http://www.megaupload.com/?d=LW99XATX(Type in the three letters then wait for count down and press free download and it should start)

For More Smiths Bootlegs Try Here http://live-bootleg.blogspot.com/search/label/Smith

Maybe we might see Marr & Moz back again some day.

If your not a fan of smiths and want to start off somewhere go out and get the Queen is Dead album and don't say i didn't warn you if you can get it our of your CD player. Enjoy!

The Small Mercies come up Trumps again

The 29th of December saw Eamonn Hehir descend on dolans again for a nearly annual Christmas gig, I went expecting the same greatness we heard last year ,However the set list seemed to have improved and the gig flowed better than any other I have seen this year. We were greeted with two classic covers from Emmylou Harris & Neil young and an all round good night of music and craic, It looks like it will finally happen and we will be treated to a second helping of a Eamonn Hehir solo album. Blood Mill Road was the first and at the gig two songs cropped up that would fit nicely in the new album one of which was "Gigs & Funerals" (Feat. Below) ,Cheers Lads hope to see ye next year
