Sad to see the irish rock festival oxegen turn into a rappers paradise. Eminem and Jay-Z are set to headline this years leaving cert fest. Im officially too old for all this, and I'm far from being old, Only reason I would sacrifice myself to the oxegen muck fields would be to witness Muse (Go see them on there own),Kasabian orVampire weekend. Only one Irish band announced so far Two Door Cinema, Such a fantastic band but I wont be forking out 250 yoyos to see them, ill check them out at the start of next month in Dolans for the fantastic price of 9 bobs.

Josh Ritter to play Dolans in April
One act I have missed many times and I have been a huge fan for many years is Josh Ritter. The first time I heard his 2003 album Hello Starling I was absolutely hooked. Many albums later and a new one on the way just two days before the dolans date Josh finds his way back to Dolans with which is is very familiar with at this stage. The gig is Set to take place Sunday April 25th and will be one hell of a night showcasing his impressive back catalogue along with new tracks from his new album "So Runs the World Away". Tickets go on sale tomorrow for 30 yoyos. Josh will be joined on the night by his fantastic backing band "The Royal City Band" and support on the night comes from "Joe Pug", I was recently recommended his new album messenger and it is well worth checking out.
Head over to www.joshritter.com for a fantastic free download of "Change of Time" from the forthcoming album.
Gilbert O'Sullivan in Limerick
The quirky Waterford native is set to play a Tuesday night next month in the University of Limerick. The 23rd of March will see Gilbert take to the stage to play years of classic material and maybe some newbies from his forthcoming album. He might be cheesy and he might not be your taste but I like the guy. Incredible songwriting and just an amazing back catalogue, is sure to make for a great night of music.
Tickets: €38.50 from UCH box office 061-331549 or online www.uch.ie

Music Snippets # 24 - TheVagabonds
Hail From : Dublin but mainly Limerick!
Band Members :
Phelo - Vocals/Guitar
Papio - Drums/Vocals
Niall - Guitar/Vocals
Niall - Bass/Vocals
About :
Majority rules in my books so these guys are officially a Limerick band. With a three out of two wininng this majority. The Dublin based four piece have been gigging around for awhile now and I have been meaning to write up about these guys for ages so apologies for the lateness. As soon as you hear there tracks on myspace you get a sense of raw untapped talent from such a young lively band on the up. Upon listening to these guys you wont get polished sounds or studio perfect vocals just good honest music, you will find fantastically written lyrics about everyday life and guys just enjoying playing music. You could nearly describe them as an Irish early libertines or Clash outfit at times. I have missed them play Limerick already but there back our way from a "Home Town" gig on the 25th of March as part of the great Green and Live Sessions down in Dolans. This is gig is one not to be missed and as usual its free, how can you complain? This band are a great edition to the limerick talent we have and I look forward to hearing more from these guys and hopefully a possible album on the way.
